The group deals with applications of advanced MR imaging techniques, especially in the field of cardio-vascular examinations and functional examinations of the brain. The group also deals with imaging of peripheral nerves using MR tractography and MR neurography in patients with disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Optimized protocols are successfully used in clinical practice, especially when planning brachial and lumbosacral plexus neurosurgical procedures.

We have been cooperating for a long time with the Department of Mathematical Engineering FJFI CTU on the creation of models of blood flow in vessels, based on the input data of instantaneous velocity measurements using MR (we are currently dealing with the second joint AZV grant). Another long-term cooperation is ongoing with NÚDZ (formerly with the Prague Psychiatric Center) in the field of research into functional and morphological changes of the brain in mentally disabled patients (here, too, we have successfully solved several joint projects and grants).
For these projects, our group provides both the development of software tools (setting and modification of examination MR protocols and sequences) and the necessary hardware support (development and production of additional devices for brain stimulation, etc.)

The whole-body 3T MR system VIDA (Siemens, Healthineers, Germany) was installed at the MR-unit, IKEM, as the fourth in 2019. It replaced Trio 3T system and has at disposal, among other things, a multinuclear unit and a number of dedicated coils for imaging and spectroscopy. It is used for both standard clinical examinations and examinations within research projects.
